Legal
Terms and conditions
These terms apply to every purchase from Amatle Institute and to every use of this website and the courses on it. Last updated 21 September 2026.
Clauses 13 and 14 limit our liability in some situations and are printed in bold. Please read them before you buy.
1. Who we are
Amatle Institute is a trading name of Amatle Makhoakhoa (Pty) Ltd, a private company registered in South Africa ("Amatle Institute", "we", "us" or "our"). The supplier information required by the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 is in clause 21.
Amatle Makhoakhoa (Pty) Ltd is not a registered VAT vendor. The prices on this website are the full amount you pay. No VAT is charged and our invoices show VAT at nil.
2. How these terms work
By creating an account or buying a course you accept these terms together with our Refunds policy, Acceptable use policy and Privacy policy, which form part of them. If one of those pages conflicts with these terms, these terms apply, except that the Refunds policy decides any question about cancellations and refunds.
Nothing in these terms takes away a right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 or any other law that cannot be excluded by agreement. Where a clause would do that, it applies only as far as the law allows.
3. What we sell
We sell twelve months of access to self-paced online courses on IFRS and South African prudential regulation. A course is made up of narrated video lessons with worked examples and companion material. Each course page lists the lessons that are in the library and gives an expected date for lessons still in production.
The courses are education. They are not accounting, actuarial, tax, legal or investment advice and they are not a substitute for professional advice on your own facts.
Lesson narration is produced with synthetic voices from a licensed text-to-speech service. Every script is written and reviewed by Amatle Institute before it is voiced, and no narration is a recording of a real person. If something in the audio sounds wrong, tell us the lesson and the time in the recording through the contact form and we will check it.
Amatle Institute is not an accredited CPD provider and does not award CPD hours or points. When you complete a course you receive a certificate of completion (clause 9). Whether your professional body accepts it is for you to confirm with that body.
4. Your account
Access is given through a personal account linked to one email address. You must give accurate details, keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens on your account unless it results from our failure to keep it secure.
You must be 18 or older, or have the consent of a parent or guardian, to buy a course.
5. Prices and payment
Prices are shown in rand on the course and pricing pages. The price you pay is the price shown at checkout when you place your order.
You can pay by card or instant EFT through our payment provider, iKhokha, or by bank transfer. We never see or store your full card number.
If a price is shown wrongly because of an obvious error, we may decline the order before access opens and refund anything you have paid in full.
6. When the agreement is concluded
Your order is an offer to buy. The agreement between us is concluded when your payment is confirmed (card and instant EFT) or reaches our account (bank transfer) and we email you a confirmation. That confirmation is also your invoice and the record of your transaction. Keep it. You can ask us for another copy at any time.
7. Access and delivery
Access to a course opens on the day the agreement is concluded and runs for twelve months from that day. For card and instant EFT this is usually immediate. For bank transfer it is usually the next business day after the payment reaches us.
If we have not given you access within 30 days after your payment reaches us, you may cancel your order and we will refund you in full.
Access does not renew automatically. You can buy a further twelve months at the price shown on the website at the time.
8. How courses change
Standards are amended and interpreted over time, so our courses are maintained rather than frozen. During your access period you receive every lesson added to your course and every revision made to an existing lesson. We may reorder, revise, replace or retire a lesson to keep a course accurate. If a change leaves a course materially short of what you paid for, the Refunds policy applies.
Expected dates for lessons in production are our best estimate, not a guarantee. The Refunds policy sets out what happens if a lesson is significantly late.
9. Certificates of completion
When you have completed every lesson in the library for your course, as recorded by our platform, you can download a certificate of completion. It names you, the course, the lessons covered and the date, and carries a serial number that anyone can check on this website.
If lessons are added later, you can complete them and download an updated certificate. Your certificates stay available and verifiable after your access period ends.
10. Your licence to use the content
All course content, including video, narration, slides, worked examples, text and certificate designs, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by copyright. Buying a course gives you a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to view it on your own account for your own learning during your access period.
You may not download, record, copy, share, resell or publish the content, or use it to teach or train others or to train or test any automated system, unless the website itself offers you a download or we agree in writing. The Acceptable use policy sets out these rules in full.
11. Buying for a team or firm
A firm, employer or other organisation can buy seats for named people. The organisation is the buyer and receives one invoice listing every seat. Each seat is personal to the person named for it, who receives their own account and twelve months of access from the day the seat opens.
An organisation may ask us to move a seat to another person as long as the original person has not started the course. A started seat stays with the person it was opened for.
Where the buyer is a juristic person, the Consumer Protection Act and the consumer protection provisions of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act may not apply to the purchase. The Refunds policy sets out the refunds we give organisations in any event.
12. Suspension and closure
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms or the Acceptable use policy, in the way that policy describes. You may close your account at any time by contacting us. Closing an account ends access and does not by itself give a right to a refund.
13. Our responsibility for the content
We take care to make every lesson accurate and to cite the paragraph of the standard it relies on. Standards, their interpretation and regulatory practice change over time, and a course cannot address your particular facts. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from a decision you or anyone else makes in reliance on course content. You remain responsible for how you apply the standards in your own work and for taking professional advice where it is needed.
14. Limit of our liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim connected with a course is limited to the amount you paid for that course, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss such as lost profit or lost opportunity. Nothing in these terms limits liability for loss caused by our gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or any liability the law does not allow us to limit.
15. Personal information
We process personal information as set out in our Privacy policy.
16. No affiliation
Amatle Institute is not affiliated with, endorsed by or accredited by the Actuarial Society of South Africa, the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, the Society of Actuaries, the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Prudential Authority or the IFRS Foundation. Standard names, paragraph numbers and regulatory references are used for identification and teaching only. No course is an accredited CPD offering and nothing on this site is issued on behalf of any standard setter or professional body.
17. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms to reflect changes in the law, in the service or in how we operate. The version that applies to a purchase is the one published on the day you made it. If we make a material change that affects a current access period, we will email the affected account holders at least 20 business days before it takes effect, and no change will reduce what you have already paid for.
18. Complaints and disputes
If something goes wrong, contact us first through the contact form or at info@amatleinstitute.co.za. We acknowledge a complaint within two business days and aim to resolve it within ten business days.
If you are a consumer and we cannot resolve your complaint, you may refer it to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud or to the National Consumer Commission. A complaint about personal information may be referred to the Information Regulator, as set out in our Privacy policy.
19. Notices
We send notices to the email address on your account or order. You may send notices to info@amatleinstitute.co.za. An email notice is treated as received when it reaches the recipient's mailbox, unless the contrary is shown. Legal documents may be served at our physical address in clause 21.
20. General
South African law governs these terms and the courts of South Africa have jurisdiction. If any clause is found invalid, the rest remain in force. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not waived it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our written consent.
