Refunds policy
How cancellations and refunds work for courses bought from Amatle Institute. Last updated 21 September 2026.
In short
- Changed your mind within seven days and have not started the course: full refund.
- Bought the same course twice by mistake: the second purchase is refunded in full.
- We did not give you access within 30 days after your payment reached us: full refund.
- A lesson promised on the course page arrived more than 90 days late, or was withdrawn and not replaced: a refund in proportion to what is missing.
- Started the course and none of the above applies: no refund, but tell us what went wrong and we will look at it.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to every course bought on this website, whether by an individual or by an organisation, and forms part of our Terms and conditions. It gives you everything the law requires and in some cases more. Nothing in it limits a right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002.
2. Changing your mind within seven days
You may cancel a course within seven days after the day you bought it, for any reason, and receive a full refund, as long as you have not started the course.
Section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act gives a consumer who buys online a seven-day cooling-off right. Section 42(2)(d) of that Act provides that the right does not apply to services that began, with the consumer's consent, before the seven days ended. When you pay, you ask us to open your access straight away, and the checkout page tells you so. Starting a lesson is therefore the point at which the cooling-off right ends.
Where a purchase results from direct marketing and section 44 of that Act does not apply to it, section 16 of the Consumer Protection Act gives you five business days to cancel instead.
3. When a course counts as started
A course counts as started once any lesson in it has been played on your account for more than 60 seconds. Our platform records lesson playback against your account for this purpose, and we will show you the record if you ask.
Browsing a course page, reading the free articles on our blog or watching the free sample lesson does not count as starting a course.
4. Duplicate purchases
If you buy a course you already hold active access to, we refund the second purchase in full, whether or not you have used the course.
5. If we do not deliver
If we have not given you access within 30 days after your payment reaches us, you may cancel and we refund you in full. This follows section 46 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, which requires an order to be carried out within 30 days unless agreed otherwise.
If a fault on our side stops you using a course for more than seven days in a row during your access period, we extend your access by the time lost. If you would rather not continue, we refund the unused part of your access in proportion to the days remaining.
6. If a course falls short of its description
Each course page shows the lessons in the library and gives an expected date for lessons in production. If a lesson shown on the course page on the day you bought has not been published within 90 days after its expected date, or a lesson is withdrawn and not replaced within 30 days, you may ask for a refund in proportion to the lessons affected. The refund is the price you paid, divided by the number of lessons shown on the course page on the day you bought, multiplied by the number of lessons affected.
If you find an error in a lesson, tell us through the contact form. We correct material errors within ten business days where we can and tell you what changed.
7. Organisations buying seats
An organisation that buys seats may cancel any seat that has not been started, within seven days after the seat opened, for a full refund of that seat. Instead of a refund, an unstarted seat may be moved to another person at any time. Sections 4 to 6 apply to organisations in the same way as to individuals.
8. How to ask for a refund
Use the contact form and choose "A refund", or email info@amatleinstitute.co.za. Give us the email address you bought with and your order reference, which starts with AE and appears on your invoice.
We acknowledge your request within two business days and give you our decision within five business days. If we decline a request, we tell you why and show you what the playback record says.
9. How refunds are paid
Refunds are paid within 30 days after we accept your request, in full and with no administration fee. A card or instant EFT payment is refunded through our payment provider to the card or account you paid with. A bank transfer is refunded to the account it came from, after we confirm the account details with you. When a course is refunded, access to it ends and any certificate for it is withdrawn.
10. Chargebacks
If you have a problem with a payment, please contact us before asking your bank to reverse it. We can usually resolve it faster. While a chargeback is open we may pause access to the course concerned.
